Hiring a DJ can be a challenging task since it is not something you do everyday.  Therefore, there are often many questions to consider when searching for the right DJ for your event.  As we have been in businesss since 1991, we have encountered nearly every question you can think of.  Below, we have listed some of the most common questions we are asked.  We hope the answers are helpful to you in making your decision, regardless of what company you choose for your event.

How much do you charge?

While this is the most asked question, it is not necessarily the most important as it doesn't always indicate the value of what is being offered.  The service provided, the experience with your type of event, the equipment, the appearance of the staff, music variety, and the use of a contract are all factors one should consider when determining the value.

The fee depends on the day, time, location, and type of show. For example, a formal event versus a casual party or a Saturday in June (peak season) versus a Thursday in January (slower season) will be priced differently.  It will likely require more of an investment for the formal event in June.

What types of events do you play?

The Mystro will play any event you can think of. Wedding receptions, corporate events, reunions, holiday parties, school dances,  bar/bat mitzvahs, graduations, theme parties, barbecues/picnics, banquets, conferences, fund-raisers... You call it, we'll do it.

What is included at each event?

The Standard Entertainment Package includes your Entertainer, Professional Sound System, Music, Microphones & Dance Lights.  There are no separate fees for set up and tear down time, everything is included in the price.  Other packages are available - contact the Mystro location nearest you for options.

How far will you travel?

While we are predominately based in the Midwest, we have done shows all over the country and even in Canada. Within the home states of the Mystro (Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio), there may be a travel fee outside a 30 mile radius of each base city.  For distances greater than 200 miles from each base city, it might cost you a little more for mileage and accommodations, but one thing is for certain, the Mystro will make our trip worth your while.

Do you have Karaoke?    

Yes!  Whether you are looking to spice up your corporate event, holiday party, birthday party or any other event, the Mystro's Karaoke System may be just what you are looking for!  Sing a tune solo or with your friends!  Let out your superstar and choose from thousands of songs to sing (or at least try to sing!).

Do you have a Digital Projector?   

Yes!  Whether you want to show a digital presentation for a corporate event or those memorable images of your life as a film or slideshow at a wedding reception, the Mystro delivers with our Digital Projection PackageThey always say a picture is worth a thousand words – especially digitally projected pictures that are 7 feet wide and 5 feet tall!

What can I expect from my DJ?

Our DJs are professional, experienced, and approachable.  Our brand of entertainment is designed to get guests involved in the fun in a way that makes everyone feel comfortable.  We are committed to serving our clients and their guests with the highest degree of professionalism.  Our DJs are always well groomed and professionally dressed.  Since the majority of our business comes through referrals from previous clients, it is essential that our DJs be highly trained and skilled professionals at all events.  It is one thing to simply be a DJ, it is quite another to earn the title of Mystro.

Can I decide what type of DJ I want?

Yes!  In order for us to cater to your tastes in music and entertainment, you get to choose the style of DJ you want – Interactive, Master of Ceremonies, or Low Key

Interactive – Vocal interaction, leads crowd participation dances, and is Master of Ceremonies

Master of Ceremonies – Coordinates and guides reception activities, makes announcements

Low Key - Minimal to no interaction, makes necessary announcements

Can I request music?

Yes!  There is no better way to learn what types of music you and your guests want to hear and dance to than by having you tell us yourself.  However, you certainly don't need to choose all the songs - that's why you're hiring a professional!  We provide a sample playlist before each show so that you may choose a few songs to give us an idea of the types of music you like.  You can also review the Mystro's Music Library, the set of music we carry to every event.  There is always room for specific requests from you and your guests.  Your DJ will use those requests to put together music sets that keep the dance floor moving the entire event.

Can I get that in writing?

Every client signs a Performance Agreement with Mystro's Entertainment that guarantees we will be there and music will be playing by the start time.  To assure an on-time start, our DJs will arrive one hour before the start time to set up and complete sound checks before we really start to play.  The Performance Agreement also assures we will be compensated for our service and more importantly for you, that we will be there when we say we will - no surprises.

Can I get help planning my event?

Yes!  With all of the events we have conducted over the years, we have a mass of knowledge that can be most helpful to our clients.  We are the next best thing to a professional event planner.   With the use of our Planning Guides  (Wedding Ceremony, Wedding Reception, and Events), we can organize the other services at your event to make sure everyone is on the same page.  The Mystro makes sure the event flows smoothly for everyone, so instead of worrying about "What do we do next?" you can focus on having a good time.

Can we talk to anyone who has used you in the past?

Yes!  We have thousands of referrals who have given testimonials and are willing to speak with future clients.  After each event, clients can complete a performance evaluation to determine the value of our service.  They are also able to post comments on our performance and are asked if they would consider being a referral.  Our customer satisfaction rate is over 98%!

How do I book you for an event?

To secure an event date with us, we can meet in person or communicate through e-mail or snail mail.  When you express a verbal interest in booking the Mystro, a temporary hold is placed on your date and on one DJ System until the Performance Agreements can be signed.  Each client is required to sign two Performance Agreements, one for your records and one to be submitted with a minimal $100 deposit to lock in your date.  Once we receive your deposit and signed agreement, your date will be locked in and reserved.

How far in advance should we book a DJ?

The earlier the better!  On average, the DJ is booked between 1 year to six months in advance.  If you wait any longer than that, then booking the DJ you want becomes more difficult.  While it is not unheard of to book a DJ 1-3 months in advance, the likelihood of getting a good DJ is greatly reduced and some DJs will charge more for a last minute booking.  So, the lesson is, don't wait!  Book your DJ as soon as possible.

Can we sit down and meet?

Yes!  There is no better way to determine your needs and interests than by meeting face to face.  We encourage all potential clients to set an appointment to meet with us to ask us questions and to get to know our company better.  After the initial consult, we always prefer to conduct a final consultation about one month before your event to finalize your details and to allow you to meet your DJ so that he can get a better feel for your musical tastes.  We are confident that if you sit down and meet with us, you will decide to Let the Mystro Conduct Your Next Event!
